The “Beyond Time/Poza Czasem” residency program caters to artists from across the globe and has been organized by the Bielska BWA Gallery, curated by artist Izabela Ewa Ołdak, in Bielsko-Biała, Poland, since 2011.
Over the course of five editions of the ‘Beyond Time’ residency, we have welcomed 24 artists from 16 different countries, engaging in artistic endeavors both within public spaces and within the gallery.
Our artist selection process involves an open call, inviting artists who focus on personal creativity and meaningful interactions with fellow artists and the local community.
At the heart of our mission is the endeavor to bring art beyond conventional confines and into the public sphere, ensuring accessibility to a diverse audience. Workshops and lectures serve as vital components, aiming not just to inspire but also to actively involve the local community, transforming them into catalysts for inspiration and active art production.
The residency program offers an immersive platform designed to spark creativity and exhibit a range of diverse artistic expressions within the dynamic public sphere of Bielsko-Biała. It encompasses a wide spectrum of artistic engagements, such as site-specific installations, performances, murals, visual arts, mapping, video works, and an array of complementary activities. These include lectures, panel discussions, exhibitions, and workshops.

The fourth edition of “Beyond Time” was exceptionally rich in wall painting and musical performances. Participants also took part in the Art from Heart Festival, which I co-organized.
