This project is an expression of my grief and concern about the ongoing destruction of the Earth and the growing disconnection between humans and the natural world. In many ancient cultures, nature was honored through ceremonies and daily practices. Today, we are forgetting its sacredness. We are cutting forests, extracting resources, polluting water, soil and air, and using fire not as a source of life, but as a tool of destruction.
The works are based on photographs taken in places I have personally experienced: rainforests in the Philippines, desert landscapes of southern Spain, Montserrat mountain in Spain, and the steppes of India. These are real places, carrying memory, presence and spirit.
The Earth is not outside of us — it lives through us. She can live without us, but we cannot live without her.
